history

The Buhck Group was founded in 1899 by Richard Buhck as a haulage company in Hamburg-Bergedorf. In 1926 son Henry Buhck joined his father's business. Richard and Henry Buhck died in the 1950s. In 1956 the company was taken over by Carsten Buhck (1934–2013) and expanded to include the building materials trade. In 1967 the Buhck Group used containers as transport vessels for the first time - Buhck was one of the first container services in Hamburg. In the 1980s, environmental concerns became increasingly important. A waste management center was built at the Wiershop site - today Buhck's largest site - with a composting and construction waste sorting system. It emerged recycled building materials , plants earth and compost products. At the beginning of the 1990s, the Buhck company began trading in raw materials and, with Willi Damm GmbH in the Grambek waste management center, it entered DSD sorting. In 1997, the group's field of activity expanded to include pipe and sewer service with the participation in the "Canal Control Group". In 1999 the Buhck Group celebrated its centenary and founded a location in Poland (Poznań).

In 2000, Carsten Buhck completely handed over the management to his sons Thomas and Henner Buhck, who have since been running the group together. In 2003, the takeover of Heinz Husen Containerdienst expanded the range of services in the Harburg district. In 2005, take-e-way GmbH was founded with a partner, today's market leader for services for small and medium-sized manufacturers of electrical devices to implement the requirements of the ElektroG. In 2006, the Buhck Group, together with partners, set up the largest sorting plant for commercial waste in Northern Germany (bestsort) and a modern substitute fuel production plant in Lägerdorf (Altera). In 2010 the Buhck Group took over the BAR with all employees, the vehicle fleet and containers from the Veolia Group. In 2015 TMK Retail Service und Consulting GmbH became part of the Buhck Group, which provides services related to product safety and product quality. In 2016, the Buhck Group became a 100% shareholder in the Bestsort commercial waste sorting system. In 2017, Hapke Rohstoffhandel GmbH, which trades in secondary raw materials, joined the Buhck Group. In 2018 the Buhck Group took over Nieder Containerdienst, in 2019 it took a 25% share in Freisler Containerdienst.

Buhck Foundation

The Buhck Foundation , formerly the Bergedorf Foundation, was founded in 1999 by Carsten Buhck and is now being continued by his daughters-in-law Britta and Bianka Buhck. The foundation supports regional projects in Hamburg-Bergedorf, as well as the Stormarn and Duchy of Lauenburg districts in the areas of environmental and nature conservation as well as the integration of migrants. Initiator Carsten Buhck set himself the goal of using this foundation to give something back to the common good in the regions in which the Buhck Group is economically active.
