Buir Nur ( Mongolian Буйр нуур , Buir nuur ) is a freshwater lake on the border between Mongolia and the People's Republic of China . It is located in the north of the easternmost tip of Mongolia and in the southwest of the New Right Bargu Banner of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in the Buir Depression . The oval lake is 33 km long, 20 km wide, its surface is 610 square kilometers, the average water depth is about 8 m. It is connected to the Hulun Nur in the north by the Orxon River (Wuerxun He, 烏爾遜 河). Its water quality is very good and there are plenty of carp in it .
