The Buliminida are an order of shell-bearing, marine unicellular organisms from the group of foraminifera .
features
The species of the order secrete their housings from low-magnesium calcite (<5 mol% magnesium ). The housings are perforated, multi-chambered with a highly trochospiral, three-, two- or uniserial arrangement of the chambers, the wall is bilamellar. In many more sophisticated forms, the opening can be closed with an inner tooth plate.
