Bulnes Island (in Chile Isla Manuel Bulnes Sanfuentes ) is a small island off the west coast of the Trinity Peninsula in the north of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula . It is located 3 km northwest of Cape Legoupil .
Participants in the Second Chilean Antarctic Expedition (1947–1948) mapped them. Frigate captain Ernesto Gonzalez Navarrete, head of this research expedition, named it after the Chilean politician Manuel Bulnes Sanfuentes (1911–1975), who was then Chile's Defense Minister. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names transferred in 1964 naming in condensed form into English.
