Bum Bum is a brand of the Nestlé Schöller company for ice cream . It was registered with the German Patent and Trademark Office on June 3, 1991 . The base consists of a milk ice cream with a vanilla and strawberry flavor, coated with a red sugar cream icing. The specialty of the product consists of a stick made of chewing gum , which is enclosed in a blue plastic cover. After the ice cream consumption, this casing can be opened along a perforation, which exposes the chewing gum core.

The name of the ice cream brand is a reference to the nickname of the German tennis player Boris Becker , Bum Bum Boris (or Bumm Bumm Boris ). When Becker unexpectedly won the Wimbledon tennis tournament in 1985 , Theo Schöller brought ice onto the market in 1986, the shape of which is modeled on a tennis racket . Thanks to Beckers winning the title again in 1986, the ice cream found great sales in the summer of that year and subsequently established itself as a permanent fixture in the German ice cream range.

The Bum Bum ice cream has lost some of its size compared to its original shape. The manufacturer justifies this with stricter requirements for children's ice cream products.
