Federal Oberland (Switzerland)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Bund Oberland is a right-wing extremist organization in Switzerland .

The group, which operates in the Bernese Oberland, focuses exclusively on the Bern, Spiez, Wimmis, Brienz, Interlaken and Unterseen regions. Supraregional or even international collaborations with other organizations and groups such as the Schulhof-CD project seem to be an exception. The Internet presence of the "Federal Oberland" is maintained from the United States and its mailbox is also located in Newport , Minnesota .

activities

The political and cultural activities of the Bund Oberland range from the distribution of leaflets, a collection for the Holocaust denier Germar Rudolf and the care of other prisoners from the "national movement" to the distribution of literature critical of the Holocaust. The distribution of the Project Schoolyard CD "Adaptation is Cowardice" and the American Project Schoolyard are also attributable to them. The latter CD was published by the North American white power label Panzerfaust Records , with which the activists of the Bund Oberland apparently maintained an extraordinarily good relationship until its dissolution and, according to presumptions, received financial support. One alleged member was convicted in February 2005 of importing several hundred Project Schoolyard CDs.

Since the beginning of 2006 the internet activities of the organization have sunk, but it is assumed that the activists continue to participate in various projects, as well as in the federal Oberland.

Suspected backgrounds

It is the first organization whose acvists have managed to remain undetected to date. Those who know the scene suspect leading PNOS cadres as well as free forces from the Hammerskins and Blood and Honor circles . The number of activists is also unknown. According to estimates, however, it is likely to be around 5–10 people between the ages of 20 and 30. The PNOS section of the Bernese Oberland, supported by Mario Friso from Spiez , can be observed as the first step in public, as well as to give a face to the national renewal movement in the Bernese Oberland. The Oberland section of the PNOS, which is very autonomous from the federal party, represents only the top of the work of the “Federal Oberland”. Due to the structures created by the “Bund Oberland” and the use of the PNOS Bernese Oberland, personnel overlaps are guaranteed. The chairman of the Oberland section, Mario Friso, did not deny the connections between PNOS Oberland and the “Bund Oberland”.

This photo from the PNOS party conference 2006 shows the connections between the PNOS Berner Oberland and the “Bund Oberland” with German right-wing extremists. Mario Friso, together with Michael Haldimann and Thomas Gerlach in Wauwil LU.
