The Federal Trunk Road Toll Act (BFStrMG) is the legal basis for collecting truck tolls in Germany . Since July 19, 2011, the law passed on July 12, 2011 as § 1 of the "Law on the New Regulation of Toll Regulations for Federal Highways " (AutoBahnMautNeuregelungsGesetz - ABMNG) from the amalgamation of the Autobahn Toll Act for heavy commercial vehicles (Autobahn Toll Act - ABMG) and the Toll Height Ordinance ( MautHV), which both expired on the same day in accordance with Section 6 ABMNG. ( BGBl. I p. 1378).

The beginning of the collection of the toll on federal highways according to § 13 of the law was set for August 1, 2012.

The covers

  • of the Road Traffic Act (StVG amended by Section 2 ABMNG),
  • the truck toll regulation (LKW-MautV amended by § 3 ABMNG),
  • the toll route extension ordinance (MautStrAusdehnV amended by § 4 ABMNG) and
  • of the Vehicle Registration Ordinance (FZV changed by § 5 ABMNG), which previously referred to the ABMG, now refer to the new law.

Payment of the toll

The vehicle driver, owner, keeper and haulier are jointly and severally liable for paying the toll. The toll must be paid before using the relevant route. The toll debtor is obliged to properly use the technical facilities provided for collecting the toll. The toll debtor is obliged to prove to the Federal Office for Goods Transport that the toll has been paid. The toll will be reimbursed if the trip for which it was intended was not carried out.
