Federal Health Council

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Federal Health Council was formed by resolution of the Federal Government of September 12, 1950 in the tradition of the former Reich Health Council. Until the founding of the Federal Ministry of Health , he was part of the Federal Ministry of the Interior . On April 27, 1953, the Federal Health Council met for its constituent meeting.

The task of the Federal Health Council was to advise the Federal Government on questions of public health care, in particular on the preparation of health legislation. In this context, the Federal Health Council was also available to all other federal ministries. The committee consisted of a maximum of eighty personalities from all sections of the population, but mostly from medical professions, who had experience in the field of health care. They were appointed by the federal government for four years at the suggestion of the Federal Ministry of Health. The Federal Health Council met in committees and at least once a year as a full assembly. The Federal Minister of the Interior and Federal Minister of Health chaired the meeting. In 1996 the Federal Health Council was dissolved - in some cases a successor body was called for.
