Bundesliga season opening tournament
The Bundesliga season opening tournament is a former competition in German women's football. Instead of the Supercup , the tournament was played annually before the start of the season from 1997 and was finally discontinued in 2001. The record winner of the tournament is 1. FFC Frankfurt . The Frankfurt women won the competition four times, one of them under the old name SG Praunheim .
The twelve clubs of the single-track Bundesliga took part in the Bundesliga season opening tournament. It was played at the beginning of a new season. The venue was the stadium at the Brentanobad in Frankfurt am Main . Between 1998 and 2001 the tournament was played out by changing sponsors under different names. It is therefore similar to the men's league cup , Fuji Cup and Telekom Cup competitions .

The tournament was played over two days. The twelve teams were randomly divided into four groups of three teams each. Within the groups, each team played each other once. The group winners reached the semi-finals, the semi-final winners the final. A game lasted 40 minutes.
