The Bundesoberstufenrealgymnasium Neulengbach (BORG Neulengbach) is a general education secondary school in Neulengbach .
history
The state upper level secondary school in Neulengbach has existed since the 2007/08 school year, initially as a private school in the rooms of the old secondary school .
An architectural competition was opened for the new school building on behalf of the State of Lower Austria, from which the team of architects SHIBUKAWA EDER Architects (Misa Shibukawa, Raphael Eder) emerged as the winner. The school building was designed for around 1000 students and according to ecological and social aspects.
The school was designed as a low-energy construction, with the lighting merging the interior and exterior space, with several inner courtyards providing illumination in addition to the south-facing facade. The forecourt is designed as an esplanade , which is also a break room. The gym can be entered through a separate entrance.
The groundbreaking of the new school building took place on June 10th, 2009 by Claudia Schmied , the then acting Minister for Education, Art and Culture .
In September 2010, 210 pupils moved into the new school building, and at the same time the grammar school became a federal school.
School profile
The focus is on social, humane and environmental energy, which aims to create sustainable awareness of the responsible treatment of people and the environment.
Social - human
In this branch the physical and psychological basics are developed in the subjects human biology , psychology & communication and social medicine and human existence is explored under special aspects such as nutrition, exercise, development and aging. Finally, with the support of the Red Cross or other organizations, a compulsory internship is offered where what has been learned is deepened. The focus is on support and care in the broadest sense. Since August 2013 the school has been the issuing point of the Team Austria board of the Red Cross.
Environment - energy
This branch brings the cycles and interactions between ecology and the forms of energy production closer, with great emphasis on sustainability. In the lessons a bridge is built between ecology and physics or between biology and chemistry , topics such as energy sources and reuse are on the curriculum as well as power plant technology . Another focus is on traffic planning , traffic avoidance and alternatives.
School partnership
The BORG Neulengbach has entered into school partnerships with the NMS in Altlengbach-Laabental, Eichgraben and Neulengbach as part of the “Lower Austrian Middle School / Lower Austria School Model” trial, which continue to exist within the framework of the New Middle School .
