history
The bdvb developed from the merger of two professional associations.
The German National Economic Association - Association of Specialists in Economic Interest Representations and Professional Economists (DVV) was founded on December 15, 1901 in Berlin . The Association of Academic Merchants was founded in Berlin in 1903 . The Association of Holders of German Commercial University Diplomas was founded in Cologne on the initiative of Eugen Schmalenbach on July 23, 1905, from the Association of Academic Merchants . The Association of Holders of German Commercial University Diplomas was given a new name in 1913: Association of German Business Graduates (VDDK) . The DVV renamed itself in 1920 to the Reichsverband der Deutschen Volkswirte eV (RDV).
In 1951, the RDV merged with the VDV Economists Association to form the Federal Association of German Economists and Business Economists (BDV). On April 17, 1971, the VDKK and BDV merged to form the bdvb. In 1990 the Association of German Business Economists (VDB) joined the bdvb.

The advisory board is also involved in the establishment of working groups and the establishment of specialist groups.

The district groups (BG) are the regional divisions of the bdvb, to which the university groups are connected. The district groups organize events such as lectures, discussions, roundtables and company tours in the individual districts. In addition, on-site member support is organized by the respective group.
Specialist groups
bdvb members with the same professional training and interests are involved in specialist groups across the region and exchange their know-how and experience.
