history

Until 1933, the horticultural profession was not regulated. Neither the Ministry of Agriculture nor the Ministry of Commerce declared that they were responsible for horticultural issues. Since horticulture was affected by severe sales losses due to the economic stagnation, the professional representatives fought for membership in agriculture. After decades of struggle, an agreement was reached that horticulture is part of agriculture . An important representative in the negotiations was Michael Walla - later a member of the National Council  - at whose instigation the first Viennese vegetable cooperative was founded in 1930/1931. From this association developed after the Second World War, the LGV fresh vegetables . In the summer of 1933, the assembly of delegates of the horticultural cooperatives and horticultural associations decided to found the Federal Association of horticulturalists in Austria. The first president was Michael Walla. After the Second World War, on August 3, 1947, the Federal Association of Commercial Gardeners Austria was re-established in Salzburg.
