Federal Association of Sea and Harbor Pilots

The Federal Association of Sea and Harbor Pilots (BSHL) is a professional association alongside the Federal Chamber of Pilots and an umbrella organization for sea piloting in Germany. While only the brotherhoods of sea pilots can be members in the Federal Chamber of Pilots , in the BSHL each individual pilot can be a member independently of the sea or port pilots brotherhood .

The BSHL is recognized by the federal government as a professional association and is thus able to support its members z. B. to represent at hearings and in committees on sea pilotage. As a professional association for both sea and port pilots, the BSHL sees itself as the supra-regional representation of all pilots across the fraternities.

Sea and port pilots have freelance status. When the BSHL was founded in May 1990, an independent professional association was created for this professional group.

structure

The Federal Association of Sea and Harbor Pilots has its headquarters at Georgsstrasse 10 in Bremerhaven . The organization of the BSHL consists of the organs of the General Assembly, the Executive Presidium, the Extended Presidium and four specialist committees. The specialist committees focus on the subjects of tariffs, safety, laws and ordinances, and training and further education for the next generation.
