The ABDA - Federal Association of German Pharmacists' Associations e. V. (originally A rbeitsgemeinschaft the B erufsvertretungen D eutscher A potheker ) is the umbrella organization of German pharmacists based in Berlin . It was founded in 1950. All 17 regional chambers of pharmacists and all 17 regional pharmacists' associations are members of the ABDA . There are a total of 17 LAV and 17 LAK, as NRW is divided into two districts ( North Rhine and Westphalia-Lippe ).

The purpose is the political representation of the 61,973 working pharmacists (as of May 2014) on a national and international level, the perception and promotion of common interests as well as maintaining the solidarity of the German pharmacists.

Friedemann Schmidt has been president since 2013 and has been president of the Saxon Chamber of Pharmacists since 2003. Friedemann Schmidt has been a board member of the Federal Association of Liberal Professions since 2015 .

The institutions include the Avoxa - Mediengruppe Deutscher Apotheker , the Marketing Gesellschaft Deutscher Apotheker, the Drug Commission of the German Pharmacists, the Central Laboratory of German Pharmacists , the German Drug Testing Institute and the German Pharmacy Museum in Heidelberg .

For the 2017 federal election , the ABDA started the Health Radar Initiative at the beginning of August . The initiative surveys up to 1,800 direct candidates from the various parties on health policy issues. Their answers are collected and presented graphically in the Initiative Wahlradar Gesundheit .

In April 2019, the association's former head of communications, Thomas Bellartz, was sentenced to a fine. The court saw as proven that he and a system administrator in the Ministry of Health had spied confidential data from the email inboxes of BMG employees, which he used for messages in his online service Apotheke Adhoc . In addition, the ABDA is said to have benefited from Bellartz's background knowledge, but presumably without knowing about the illegal source.

The association is entered in the public list through the registration of associations and their representatives .
