Federal people

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the Austrian constitutional law, the federal people is understood as the totality of citizens entitled to vote . The term is used in Article 26 (1) (regulates the election of the National Council ) and Article 60 (1) (election of the Federal President ) of the Federal Constitutional Law (B-VG).

In accordance with Article 44, Paragraph 3 of the B-VG, the federal people also vote on any overall amendment to the federal constitution . Partial changes to the Federal Constitution are then submitted to a referendum if this is requested by a third of the members of the National Council or the members of the Federal Council .
