Bunowo , common transliteration Bunovo ( Bulgarian Буново ) is a village in Sofia Oblast , in western Bulgaria .

geography

The village is about 50 km east of Sofia and is located between the central Balkan mountains and Sredna Gora . It consists of two parts, the actual "old" village below the railway line and the "new" district above it.

history

On March 9, 1985, an attack on the Sofia – Burgas train near Bunowo train station left seven dead, including three children. The then communist government of Bulgaria accused the Turkish National Liberation Movement of having committed the attack.
