Burchard V. (Vendôme)

Burchard V. (French: Bouchard ; † 1271 ) was Count of Vendôme from the House of Montoire . He was a son of Count Peter and his wife, Johanna von Mayenne.

He was married to Maria von Roye ( House Roye ), their children were:

  • Johann V († 1315), Count of Vendôme
  • Burchard, Lord of Bonnevau
  • Peter († around 1311), canon in Tours
  • Eleonore, ∞ with Burchard VII from l'Isle Bouchard
  • Johanna, ∞ with Gottfried von Montbazon

In 1265 Burchard and his brother Johann accompanied their liege lord, Count Karl von Anjou , to Italy to conquer the Kingdom of Sicily . He fought against King Manfred in the battle of Benevento in 1266 . In 1270 Burchard took part in the Seventh Crusade in the entourage of Anjou , where he fell ill with the spreading dysentery off Tunis , from which he died a little later.
