Burckhardt is an impact crater on the northeastern front of the moon , north of the Mare Crisium , between the craters Geminus in the north and Cleomedes in the south. The crater rim is moderately eroded. The interior has a central mountain.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the German astronomer Johann Karl Burckhardt .
