history
The name Burgfelden for the castle (Alt) gutenstein cannot be historically proven and probably goes back to the field name Burgfeld.
The local castle of Gutenstein was built in the 12th century by the Lords of Gutenstein (see also Hedwig von Gutenstein ) and mentioned in 1225. From 1345 to 1353 Konrad von Magenbuch lived in the castle; by 1556 the castle had already fallen into disrepair.
Today only small remains of the former castle complex, which had a keep on an area of around 4.5 by 5.5 meters, are preserved.
