The Castle Episcopal pawpaw was a Teutonic castle of the Teutonic Order in the then East Prussian village Episcopal pawpaw, today Papowo Biskupie . It served to secure the route from Thorn to Kulm .
history
In 1232 the place was conquered by the Teutonic Order. In 1287 a commander was established with a castle. After the defeat at Tannenberg , the castle came under Polish rule, but soon returned to the order. The Prussian Confederation , above all the residents of Thorn, rebelled against the order and conquered the castle with Polish knights in 1458, which was only defended by 55 knights. The Polish king gave them to the Bishop of Kulm, who also had no use for them. So the castle fell into disrepair. After the First Partition of Poland , the castle came to Prussia , after the First World War it came back to Poland.
