Buchschachen Castle

Castle Buchschachen is a multi-part Outbound castle in Buchschachen (municipality Markt Allhau ) in Burgenland .

history

In 1263 the Hungarian King Bela IV awarded a then uninhabited forest (Hungarian: "Sah", German: "Schachen") in the north of Allhau to a Tiba, brother of Georg Köveskuti, for military merits. The remains of a house mountain from this time are in a gorge east of the village, called the lock bolt . They probably go back to the castle built by Tiba, which was destroyed in the Peace of Hainburg in 1291. However, it is also possible that this castle was located on the site of another ruined fortification, which is very close on the Taborhöhe . In any case, a further destruction of Burgschachen Castle is mentioned in the Walseer feud of 1411. The Buchschachen rule is mentioned in 1540 in the Schlaininger Urbar as "Puechschachen". In 1574 it was completely absorbed by the Schlaining rule .
