The castle Freienstein is an Outbound castle above the Max-Eyth-See in the district Freiberg of the district Mulhouse the state capital of Stuttgart in Baden-Wuerttemberg .
The small castle complex, of which nothing has survived, was mentioned around 700 and formed a separate legal district with the area of today's Freiberg district at the time of the Alemanni . In 1501 and 1586, the castle is referred to again in documents that have survived, but as early as 1586 it was referred to as the Freyensteiner Burgstall .
