The castle wholesale Ringelstein , also ringed castle called, is the ruins of a hilltop castle in Alsace Vosges in France . Like Klein-Ringelstein Castle, the castle dates back to the beginning of the 13th century. In 1470 Groß-Ringelstein was destroyed by troops from the Electorate of the Palatinate and fell into ruin. The castle was owned by the Counts of Eguisheim , who were first mentioned in the middle of the 12th century. After the family died out, the castle moved to the Bishop of Strasbourg.
