history
The Haslach market and its fortifications were the bone of contention between the then very powerful Rosenbergers and the bishops of Passau or the sovereign.
The castle was built by Peter von Rosenberg . In a repurchase deed dated September 11, 1341, he pledged himself to the Bishop Albert of Passau , "that he should deny di vest that he pawed in Markcht". It is uncertain whether this happened, but the tower remained standing. On July 13, 1487, Emperor Friedrich III. the Wok von Rosenberg to stop the construction work on the fortification of the Haslach market and the castle, as he had no permission and there was no need to do so. In 1599 Peter Wok von Rosenberg had to sell Haslach to the Passau bishop Leopold V.
Haslach Castle today
The mighty tower of the former castle still stands, which today serves as the steeple of the Catholic parish church of St. Nicholas serves; this is 63 m high. The tower was redesigned around 1906/07, until 1906 it had a closed battlement, today an open gallery.
The tower has six floors, the lower four are equipped with barrel vaults. The tower had a high entry with a drawbridge, from there it goes on with a staircase in wall thickness; the staircase is exposed through tubular hatches. A cantilevered stone battlement is located above the sixth floor.
