The castle Ilow II , also castle Ilow , hilltop castle Ilow , castle Madsow called, is an Outbound hilltop castle in the "Old Wood", a wooded area near the local part of the municipality Madsow Neuburg in nordwestmecklenburg . A historical name of the castle is not guaranteed. It is considered to be the predecessor of Ilow Castle , which is 1.3 kilometers to the west, and is therefore sometimes referred to as "Ilow Castle" or "Ilow Castle". In 1924 it was called "Ilow II" by the prehistorian Robert Beltz .
The castle is an early Slavic castle with three steeply sloping slopes. The fourth side was protected by ramparts. There is nothing left of the buildings of the castle today, only a flat circular plateau on the castle hill, with a diameter of about a hundred meters, gives an idea of the size of the complex. Lisch , who did not name the castle by name in his essay on the Wendish princely castle Ilow, considered it a Germanic dwelling or a Wendish sacrificial place.
