To the north are the medieval Ovčinek desert and the Březina military training area , to the east the desert Stagnov Castle , to the southeast the Opatovice dam and to the northwest the Hamlíkov desert.
history
According to archaeological findings, the castle was built in the middle of the 13th century. It is believed that it was founded by the Čeblovice lords and belonged to the Hohlenstein manor . Her original name is unknown. It was probably created as a colonization center in the course of the German settlement of the Drahaner Bergland. Since the castle was not mentioned in the course of the division of the Hohlensteiner possessions in the first half of the 14th century, it is assumed that it was already desolate at that time.
The name Kuchlov came into being in the 16th century and is derived from the forest where the remains of the castle are located. Around the complex there was a bailey with a pentagonal floor plan and wooden structures.
