The castle Weitramsdorf is a Grade II listed building on the market square in Weitramsdorf , a district of Velen in Borken ( Nordrhein-Westfalen ).

History and architecture

Bishop Heinrich von Moers had a castle built in 1425 . This was destroyed in the Munster collegiate feud (1450-1457). It was then renewed and fell into disrepair again. The rectangular brick building that exists today with ashlar elements was built in 1732 for the brothers Anton Heinrich and Alexander Jungeblodt. Remnants of the 15th century complex and the mighty round tower were included.

In the rooms of the castle, the Museum Burg Ramsdorf shows its extensive exhibits on regional history.
