The castle Restorf was a medieval low castle of the type of a tower hill castle (Motte) in Restorf in Lower Saxony . It is a castle stable , as no remains of the facility that are visible above have survived.
The moth system , which can no longer be precisely localized, lay on a slight plateau that rises about 2 meters from the lowlands of Lake Restorfer and on which the Protestant Church of St. Johannis is also located. The hill on which the castle tower stood has an area of 20 × 15 meters. In test excavations a burnt layer found with pottery shards from the 12th and 13th centuries. Layers of soil that were formed by the flooding of the Elbe have deposited on top .
Since the castle cannot be found in a historical deed from 1455 for the enfeoffment of Restorf, it is assumed that it no longer existed at that time.
