The Rychmberk Castle (German: Rychmberg ; Richemberg ) was located on a rock spur above the Liberský potok valley near Liberk in eastern Bohemia.

history

Rychmberk Castle was built at the end of the 13th century. It probably belonged to the castle system of the Bohemian national defense at that time. In 1310 it was owned by the Rychmberk family, a branch of the Kaunitz family . The village of Liberk developed next to the castle and was first mentioned in 1310. In 1358 the brothers Dobeš and Oldřich von Rychmberk sold their possessions to Čeněk Kruschina von Lichtenburg ( Čeněk Krušina z Lichtenburka ), who sold them to Jan von Skuhrov in 1367 . In the same year a wooden church was built next to the castle.

Rychmberk signed over to his wife Anna von Teschen-Auschwitz in 1396 , it must have been in his sole possession at the time. Because Puta's son Puta d. J. stood on the side of Emperor Sigismund , the Hussites took the castle in 1425 . In 1440 Hynek Kruschina von Lichtenburg acquired from Anna Kolditz, the widow of Puta the Elder, who died in 1434. J. his former possessions, which also included Rychmberk. In the same year Jan Kolda von Žampach conquered the castle and kept it occupied.

After Hynek Kruschina's death in 1454, his son Wilhelm sold the inherited goods to the future King of Bohemia, George of Podebrady . When Jan Kolda fought in the Thirteen Years' War on the side of the Polish King against the Teutonic Knights from 1454-1457 , Georg von Podiebrad took the opportunity to conquer the castle he was legally entitled to in 1456 and incorporated it into his rule Lititz . In 1458 he had Rychmberk Castle razed. When the Lititz estate was sold to Wilhelm II von Pernstein in 1495 , it was described as desolate.
