The Schaaken Castle was a Teutonic castle of the Teutonic Order in the then East Prussian village Liska-Schaaken today Nekrassowo in the Russian Kaliningrad Oblast .
history
The former Schaaken was built as a castle of the Teutonic Order northeast of Königsberg (Prussia) , 3 km from the Curonian Lagoon , and consisted of Liska-Schaaken with the Schaaken domain (today merged under the name "Nekrassowo") and Schaaken church (Russian: Schemtschuschnoje ). Even in Prussian times there was a trading post with a fortification that the Teutonic Order used for its defense purposes. In 1397 Schaaken Castle was administered by a caretaker and placed under the Königsberg Commandery. By 1503 there were 21 nurses ; in the Duchy of Prussia this function was carried out by an official governor. In 1606 the castle burned down due to an accident. Tsar Peter the Great stayed here in 1711 and 1717 . In the Seven Years' War drew Alexander Suvorov his headquarters here. In the 19th century the castle was redesigned in the romantic style. After 1945 the castle complex fell into disrepair. There are plans to rebuild it as a German-Russian meeting center.
