Burgen und Schlösser (title addition: magazine for castle research and monument preservation ) is a German-language magazine in the field of castle research and monument preservation , which appears quarterly. The publisher is the European Castle Institute in Braubach .

In 1959 the printing of the previous magazine Der Burgwart (since 1899) was stopped and instead the magazine Burgen und Schlösser was launched. In terms of content, the scientifically oriented magazine deals with the research of castles and palaces as well as historical fortifications and residential buildings as well as the topic of monument preservation in general from an international and interdisciplinary perspective.

Works from medieval archeology , art history and historical studies are strongly represented among the contributions . The mode of publication changed over time. Up to 1993, two issues were published per year, from 1994 three issues and from 2000 four issues.

The purchase of castles and palaces is for members of the Deutsche Burgenvereinigung e. V. free of charge.
