history

The mill was first mentioned in 1529 when the mill under the stone fields , which had two water wheels and an acre and a half of meadows, was paying interest. Around 1700 the mill was owned by the Rappold family, an old inscription stone from 1698 names the owners at that time. In 1725, Hans Jakob Rappold was named as a miller on the mill. In 1872 the mill was owned by Jakob Günderich and David Pfannenschwanz. In 1864, Christoph Müller received the approval to use a new mill wheel for a worn one and thus to drive three grinding cycles and one tanning cycle. In 1877 Friedrich Weitzäcker installed a new crop wheel , which was modified and repaired in 1909. In 1914 the mill received a Francis turbine . In 1935 Friedrich Spielberger owned the mill. His descendants still run the mill today. In 1958 Hans Spielberger took over the mill, in 1994 Volkmar Spielberger became the third generation. The operation with water power ended in 1960, since then the mill has only been operated by electricity. The company was converted to a purely organic farm in 1983, in which only organically grown grain, mostly from Demeter cultivation, is processed. Mill products made from wheat and spelled have since been supplied to over 2500 health food stores across Germany under the Spielberger brand , and a direct sales point has also been set up in the mill. In 1993 the mill was expanded to include a modern mill building. The mill with four high-performance double chairs and a plansifter has a daily capacity of around 30 tons.
