architecture

The "Burg Freiheit", a direct connection to Rheydt and Cologne , is an early medieval route east of the historic town center, which owes its name to a small settlement that was located directly next to the castle (first attested in 1153) .

The building is a free-standing two-storey villa building with a saddle roof ; Built in the 1890s by the manufacturer Barten. The facade shows a stucco structure in neoclassical forms. The house has a symmetrically structured street front of five axes with a stepped basement base. The extension on the right-hand side is three-storey, has seven regular window axes and, like the main house, closes off with a modified block frieze below the curtain eaves . Across from it is a changed wing of one storey, probably the former Remise . A more recent plastered brick wall surrounds this “courtyard area”.
