history
An Ortolfus de Clamma was mentioned in a document around 1130 . In 1339 Hermann II von Klamm-Pitten sold the castle to the dukes Albrecht , Friedrich , Leopold and Otto . The castle was probably in the possession of the von Rappach (noble family) until the beginning of the 15th century . Documented in 1432, the castle was once again princely conquered by the Hungarians in 1487 and reconquered by King Maximilian I (HRR) . Since 1492 the castle was in the administration of the sovereign caretakers Wolfgang Teufel and Christoph von Fladnitz . Redeemed in 1518 by Siegmund von Herberstein , the castle probably fell into disrepair under Caspar and Achaz von Herberstein . In 1568, the Lower Austrian Chamber complained about the fortifications and structural damage to the castle in a document. In 1571 the castle was regal again and in 1577/1578 the castle was notarized again by naming construction defects. In 1603 it was a pledge from Urschenbeck von Pottschach until it was under the rule of Matthias Wägele von Walsegg in 1642 and again certified as dilapidated in 1655 and repaired around 1663. In 1801 there was a fire in the castle and in the French wars of 1805/1809 the castle deteriorated further. In 1833, Countess Karoline Sternberg, nee Walsegg, sold the castle to Prince Johann I Liechtenstein , who arranged maintenance work and the restoration of some of the rooms. The chapel was named in 1899. The castle remained in the possession of the Liechtenstein family until 1942 and is now in inaccessible private property.
