The Postal Davidskäpfle is an Outbound hilltop castle on 495 m above sea level. NN in the Tettnang suburb of Rattenweiler in the Lake Constance district in Baden-Württemberg .

The Burgstall, which is still clearly recognizable, is located on a drum line northwest of Rattenweiler. To the north it is protected by a steep slope into the Argental . From the northeast, a very steep rampart, sometimes several meters high, stretches almost semicircular to the southwest around a plateau, the rampart flattens out significantly in the western area. In this flat area, embankments can be seen that are reminiscent of a building. In the north-west of the Argental there is a gap in which no remains can be seen. Alois Schneider suspects the remains of a medieval hilltop castle on the Davidskäpfle , which has been disturbed by landslides in the north. Towards the south, the castle was protected by a moat that is now heavily flattened ; an approach barrier outside the moat is conceivable.
history
There are no reliable mentions of the castle stable. Alois Schneider refers to two pieces of news that could relate to this complex: In 1366, Adelheid von Tannenfels issued Count Heinrich and Wilhelm von Montfort with a lapel in which a castle valley was mentioned in the Rattenweiler estate . In 1447, in a decision by Count Hugo von Tettnang , the Burgstal and the garden on it are also named. Both mentions can also refer to the Burgstall Winkelholz, located about 230 meters southwest.
