Burkhard Boemke

Burkhard Boemke (born September 12, 1961 in Hildesheim ) is a German lawyer . He has been Professor of Civil Law, Labor and Social Law at the University of Leipzig since 1997 .

Career

After graduating from the Jacob-Grimm-Schule in Kassel , Boemke began studying law in 1980 at the University of Göttingen , which he completed in May 1985 with the first state examination in law. Boemke then worked on his dissertation entitled “Legal Consequences of Inappropriate Provisions in General Terms and Conditions” , with which he was awarded a Dr. iur. received his doctorate. In October 1989 Boemke passed the second state examination in law before the Higher Regional Court of Celle . Boemke then became a research assistant at Heidelberg University . There he completed his habilitation in 1996 with a study on "Contract of obligations and employment" , supervised by Gerrick von Hoyningen-Huene .

In 1996/97, Boemke was a substitute professor at the University of Mannheim . On September 1, 1997, he was appointed professor at the University of Leipzig, where he has held the chair for civil law, labor and social law ever since. Since December 1998, Boemke has also been the managing director of the Institute for Labor and Social Law at the Law Faculty of the University of Leipzig. From April 2006 to September 2008 he was Dean of the Law Faculty of the University of Leipzig.
