Burkhard II of Randegg

Burkhard II von Randegg († April 13, 1466 ) was Bishop of Constance from 1462 to 1466 .

Burkhard came from the Swabian family of the Lords of Randegg , based in Randegg Castle near Gottmadingen . He was the son of the knight Heinrich von Randegg and Margaretha von Ellerbach.

His niece Anna von Randegg was abbess of the Gnadental monastery from 1478 to 1502 .

Life

On December 1, 1462, the cathedral provost and canon Burkhard von Randegg of Constance was elected bishop of the diocese of Constance by the cathedral chapter .

On December 3, 1462 he appointed the bustling Georg Winterstetter , canon in St. Stephan and later canon in Constance, as his administrator. Winterstetter also travels to Rome to receive the papal certificate of appointment as Bishop of Burkhard II von Randegg from Pope Pius II .

In 1463 Burkhard from St. Gallen Monastery exchanged the Horn bailiwick and the Goldbach court in Thurgau. With an episcopal order of May 13, 1464, he forbade the canons and women choirs of Zurich Abbey to hold capital without the knowledge and will of the abbess .

Burkhard von Randegg died on April 13, 1466 and was buried in the Konstanz Minster .
