Burkhard Pingel (born January 4, 1957 ) is a former football player who was active in the GDR major league for Hallescher FC Chemie .

Player career

Pingel came on May 24, 1975 for his first league assignment for the HFC. From the following season he played regularly for Halle, mostly in defense or in defensive midfield. In total he came to a total of 159 league appearances by the 1982/1983 season, in which he scored 10 goals. From April 1983 to December 1984 he did his reservist service with the NVA and during this time played for the ASG Vorwärts Dessau . He then returned to the HFC, which, however, was now playing in the GDR league. After the 1985/1986 season, he ended his active career.

selection

Burkhard Pingel made six appearances in the GDR's U-21 team. On November 16, 1976, he was in Turkey for a youth international match and could have gone to the West with his Halle club colleagues Norbert Nachtweih and Jürgen Pahl . However, he returned to the GDR because he was tied to his homeland and in the situation at that time he had to expect never to see his relatives again. Instead of being commended for his loyalty, Pingel had to endure endless interrogations by the state security and was initially no longer considered for selection teams.

At the U-21 European Football Championship in 1978 , Pingel was substituted on in both games in the final against Yugoslavia, which the GDR narrowly lost.

After the football career

Burkhardt Pingel trained among others the HFC, VfL Halle 96 and Grün-Weiß Wolfen . He then worked at Saxon Environment Consulting.
