Burkhard Steiner (born October 4, 1958 ) is a former German soccer player . The 178 centimeter tall defender made 348 appearances in the 2nd Bundesliga between 1979 and 1991 ; This puts him in 20th place among the players most frequently used in the 2nd Bundesliga.

On February 21, 1979 Steiner made his debut as a midfielder for SG Wattenscheid 09 in the 2nd Bundesliga North . After six goals in 89 games, he moved to Hannover 96 for two years (56 games, four goals) before returning to Wattenscheid. After 95 games and three goals in three more years in the Ruhr area, Steiner signed a two-year contract with 1. FC Saarbrücken ; here he played 58 second division games (one goal). Between 1989 and 1991 Steiner scored a goal in 45 games for Rot-Weiss Essen before playing his last of five games for FC Carl Zeiss Jena on November 2, 1991 and then ending his professional career.

In July 1976 Steiner scored the goal of the month as a player in the A-youth team of Rot-Weiss Essen with a kick from the stand .

The trained industrial clerk owned a boutique during his professional career . Today Steiner is the owner of the Roman glassworks and the torture chamber from the age of knights at Linz Castle .
