Burkhardt Daßler

Burkhardt Daßler (born February 13, 1940 ) is a German judoka , trainer and referee.

Life

Burkhardt Daßler began as a teenager in the GDR with the judo . Already at this time he achieved first successes in judo tournaments at the district and GDR level. In 1961 Daßler passed the 1st Dan exam with Horst Wolf in Leipzig .

From the end of the 1960s Burkhardt Daßler worked as a judo trainer and referee. He did development work in particular for judo sport at the Technical University of Ilmenau . Furthermore, Daßler was a member and chairman of Dan examination commissions in Thuringia and Saxony . In 1985 Burkhardt Daßler received the 5th Dan for many years of meritorious activities in the German Judo Association (DJV).

Burkhardt Daßler is still active in judo tournaments today; this makes him one of the oldest competition judoka in Germany.

Competition successes

During his studies in the 1960s, Burkhardt Daßler started for the SC DHfK Leipzig . His coach there was Siegmund Haunschild .

During this time Burkhardt Daßler won the GDR championship title in light middleweight three times in a row : in 1962 in Kamenz he won the final against Joachim Schröder (SC Dynamo Berlin). In 1963 he won in Berlin in the final battle against Gunther Wiesner (SC Dynamo Berlin). And in 1964 Daßler won the final against Lothar Körber (BSG Lok Zwickau) at the judo championships in Schkeuditz .

In addition, Burkhardt Daßler was a member of the selection squad of the German Judo Association and successfully took part in various international matches of the GDR national team. In 1966 he won the bronze medal in the newly introduced judo weight class U70 at the GDR championships in Schwerin .

Since the 2000s Burkhardt Daßler has continued his active judo career in veteran competitions ("Masters"). In numerous senior tournaments he started in age groups M7 to M11 (weight class up to 66 kg). Daßler has already become German champion, European champion and world champion in veteran judo several times.

Burkhardt Daßler is currently starting as a competitor in senior judo for the ESV Lokomotive Chemnitz .
