The Burney Point ( Polish Przylądek Burney'a ) is a rocky headland on the south coast of Nelson Iceland in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is west of the west-southwest of Duthoit Point and south of Burney Peak .
Polish scientists named it in 1984 based on the name of the neighboring mountain of the same name. Its namesake is David Burney, captain of the British sealer Nelson , who operated in the waters around the South Shetland Islands between 1820 and 1823.
