history

In the second half of the 19th century, passengers in Kaunas were transported by horse-drawn tram , from 1919 there was the narrow-gauge railway and later city buses. The first bus station was established in the old town of Kaunas on the narrow and narrow Dionizas Poška Street in 1928. Soon it was decided to build a larger and more spacious station. Initially, the municipality looked after the bus stop; from 1935 the traffic management at the Ministry of Transport of Lithuania took over this function and built the bus station in Kaunas in Vytautas Prospect . This modern bus station was opened on August 1, 1936. There were two platforms at that time. Twelve buses could stop at each platform.

In 1937 the Kaunas bus fleet had 44 cars. In 1938 a garage and workshop were built in Šančiai .

In 1939 there were 70 buses, mostly German Mercedes-Benz . In 1939 35.5 million passengers were carried.
