Buscherhof (Erkelenz)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Buscherhof was a small hamlet in the north of Erkelenz , west of Oestrich , until around 1930 . Today Buscherhof is completely surrounded by urban development. In 1935 there was only one street name: Kehrbuscherweg , named after a village in the north. After the Second World War , the longer street in the village was named Buscherkamp and a small cul-de-sac that led to the largest farm in the former hamlet was named Buscherhof . This farm is also known as the Buscherhof .

history

Wayside cross at the Buscherhof

The settlement was laid out in the medieval expansion period of the 12th and 13th centuries. The name Busch refers to the forest that was cleared back then . At the same time, the places Grubusch , now a desert , and Etgenbusch were founded in the Erkelenzer Land . To the north are two other clearing sites; Grambusch and Kehrbusch .

The oldest mention comes from a document from 1309, where the two people Henricus de Buscho and Tilmanus de Busco are mentioned. The Aachen Marienstift owned a manor in Buscherhof. The hamlet always belonged to the city of Erkelenz. In 1871 Buscherhof had twelve residential buildings and sixty-four residents.

The B 57

Between 1798 and 1814, the French government at the time built the highway from Aachen to Krefeld south of Buscherhof. In 1820 there was only one development west of this street. To the south, an inn and two farms were built around 1830. In the 20th century the street became Reichsstraße and then Bundesstraße 57 . In 1975 the federal highway was rebuilt, which runs north and west of Buscherhof as a bypass. The former federal road is now an inner-city road that diverts traffic towards Mönchengladbach.
