Bussi Bär is a magazine for preschool children that was first published in 1966. The main character is an upright, orange bear, who has both a symbolic and a drawn "golden heart" (which hangs around his neck). Bussi-Bär's constant companion is the dog Bello Blue , whose fur is completely blue.

The magazine

There used to be stories of a kind of gnome family, called Die Wummels , in which every character wears a pointed hat ; female wummels wear pink, male red hats. Illustrated retellings of fairy tales as well as cooking and baking recipes and pictures of plants were printed regularly.

Nowadays every booklet is shrink-wrapped in foil and contains a small toy. In every issue there is a story with Bussi-Bär and Bello as main characters, which is written in prose and illustrated. Another regular part of the magazine is the Strubbelpeter and Schnatterliese series , which is written entirely in verse and also illustrated. Occasionally, the two main characters appear in the stories of Bussi-Bär and Bello, and vice versa. In addition, many suggestions for handicrafts are given.

In addition to the stories, the magazine also features puzzles and pictures as well as small knowledge articles, for example about animals.

The magazine was published under license by Pabel-Moewig Verlag, which belongs to the Bauer Media Group , until 2017 . The rights to the magazine were transferred to the publishing house Blue Ocean Entertainment AG, a subsidiary of Hubert Burda Media , with effect from June 5, 2017 . The character Bussi-Bär still belongs to the comic universe of Rolf Kauka .

Bussi Bär appears in ten languages.
