Buster Pickens
Edwin Goodwin Pickens (* 3. June 1916 in Hempstead , Texas ; † 24. November 1964 in Houston , Texas) was an American blues - Pianist and - singer . He accompanied Texas Alexander and Lightnin 'Hopkins on several of their recordings.
Life
He was born Edwin Goodwin Pickens in Hemstead, Texas. In the 1930s it was part of the Santa Fe Circuit, named for the fact that the touring musicians used the Santa Fe freight trains. After military service during World War II , he returned to Houston, Texas and played in various recordings for Gold Star Records in 1948. In 1950 he accompanied Texas Alexander for Freedom Records. In the 1960s she played in the band and on recordings of Lightnin 'Hopkins, for example on Walkin' This Road By Myself (1962), Smokes Like Lightning (1963), Lightnin 'and Co. (1963) and others. In 1960 he recorded his only album, Buster Pickens (1960) - Heritage Records.
Buster Pickens was shot dead in a bar in November 1964 after an argument.
