The Butterfly Lake is at sea level situated lake in Pinellas County in the state of Florida in the United States. It is located in the Shore Acres district of St. Petersburg . Until about the middle of the 20th century, the lake was still in an area overgrown with pine and palm trees to the northeast of the then urban area. However, a contractor from Minnesota began to develop the peninsula as a residential area in 1950, so that the lake is now in the middle of the settlement area.
