The buttocks

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Buttocks are considered by many old punks in Germany to be one of the punk bands par excellence, their debut work was the first politically left-wing punk record in Germany. The band was founded in Hamburg in 1978 . Original line-up: Mike Stanger (vocals), Stephane Larsson (drums), Rainer Jarren (guitar), Michael Ruhl (bass).

The band played an extremely fast and aggressive style. Although the term did not exist back then, the band is now considered to be one of the first “ hardcorebands in Germany. Most of the songs were sung in English . Two EPs came out in 1980 and 1981 on the Hamburg label Konnekschen , named after a record store of the same name that no longer exists in the street Unterm Average in Hamburg's university quarter, plus a few tracks were released on samplers. Already in 1983 was followed by the resolution. The drummer later played for Slime (after Stefan Mahler's departure) and then founded Eddie and their guitarists with Slime bassistMichael "Elf" Mayer the punk band Targets .

The singer Mike Buttock founded the band KomaKombo with the publisher of the Pretty Vacant fanzine, Eugen Honold. Long after the Buttocks broke up, recordings were made, most of which are live and clearly illustrate the energy of this band. Live, in the eyes and ears of many punk contemporaries, the Buttocks were the best Hamburg punk band of the time.
