Targets was a German punk band that existed from 1983 to 1985. It consisted of the former Slime members Michael “Elf” Mayer ( vocals , guitar ), Sven “Eddie” Räther ( bass ) and Stephan “Stéphane” Larsson ( drums ).

history

After the album Alle gegen Alle (1983), disputes broke out in Slime. When the band decided to make a live album without asking Stephan Mahler beforehand, he was offended and left the band. Mahler brought Stephan Larsson from The Buttocks into the band, but the air was out. When it was certain that the last Slime concert would take place on January 21, 1984, Mayer, Larsson and Räther decided to form a new band. The search for a suitable singer turned out to be difficult, so Mayer took over the singing. The two songs written for Slime TV Song and Großer Bruder (later published on Die Lesten ) formed the basis. The first appearance in the opening act for Peter and the Test Tube Babies in February 1984 in Berlin was a disaster. The skinheads who had arrived only wanted to see the Test Tube Babies and booed the targets.

Another appearance followed with Peter and the Test Tube Babies and Die Ärzte , which was much better received. Targets then released the two EPs Schneller, Lauter, Härter and Menschenjagd in 1984 on the punk label Aggressive Rockproduktionen . In 1985 the album Massenhysterie followed . The A-side of the album contained new studio songs, the B-side was recorded live in the Villa Kreuzberg. Then the band broke up.

In 2003 the song Rejected appeared on a tribute album for the band Rancid . In 2014 the album including the two EPs from Höhnie Records and Colturschock was reissued.
