The Buttress Peak (English for pillar tip ) is a mountain in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the Freyberg Mountains, it rises at the eastern end of the central ridge of Gallipoli Heights .
The mountain got its descriptive name from the New Zealand geologist Peter John Oliver, who examined it between 1981 and 1982 as part of the New Zealand Antarctic Research Program .
