The Byreburnfoot Bridge is a road bridge near the Scottish town of Canonbie in the Council Area Dumfries and Galloway . In 1971, the building was initially included in the Scottish monument lists in category B. The upgrade to the highest monument category A took place in 1988.

description

The masonry viaduct is around 1.5 kilometers north of Canonbie. It leads an unspecified side road over the Byre Burn stream immediately before its confluence with the Esk . Before the A7 was straightened , this important trunk road ran over the bridge.

The arch bridge built in 1850 spans the Byre Burn with a high segment arch . Cast iron badges show the year of construction. The architect J. Hogg from Carlisle was responsible for the planning. The masonry consists of red stone blocks, some of which are embossed . A decorative ribbon runs below the flat parapet.
